KONTROL runs in your own browser. Your scenarios, results and settings stay there. A few features do send something to another service, and each one is listed in one place so you never have to guess.
Where to find the list #
Open Settings in KONTROL and choose "What leaves this computer". The same list is on the privacy and security page of this site, and in the privacy policy.
What is on it #
- Licence check. Only if you have a licence key, or press Start trial. It sends your key, a random device identifier and your browser's name, such as Chrome. It does not send your name, email or browsing.
- Suggestion box. Only when you press send. It sends what you wrote, and your email address if you chose to give one.
- News. A read-only request. It sends nothing about you or your scenarios, though, as with any web request, the service sees your IP address.
- Phone alerts and commands. Only if you set a topic. Alerts carry a scenario's name and why it failed.
- Webhooks. Only for alert rules where you entered an address.
- AI features. Off by default, and sent straight from your browser to Anthropic with your own key.
- Send a request and No broken links steps. Only when a scenario containing the step runs.
Nothing runs in the background of ordinary browsing #
When no scenario is running in a tab, KONTROL does not run in that tab or send anything because of it. The checks you build run when you start them, or when you set them to run on a loop or a schedule.
A receipt, kept locally #
KONTROL keeps a local receipt of what it sent: the host, the size and the result. It does not keep the address beyond the host, a query string, a body or a screenshot. You can clear it in Settings.
